Character Information
General
Canon Source: Elfen Lied
Canon Format: Manga
Character's Name: Nana
Character's Age: She looks as if she’s 14 physically but in actuality she’s really only 7.
Conditional: If your character is 13 years of age or under, please clarify how they will be played.
Nana is a child who knows nothing of the outside world, having spent her entire life in a laboratory. Of course, despite her ignorance of everything around her Nana is still capable of surviving. She’d certainly be fine protecting herself from the darkness using her vectors and finding shelter however she’d need a hand from the friendly population of newcomers of Siren’s Pull to help her out, especially when she arrives. After she’s settled though she will be like any young six year old in a new environment; thrilled, shy and yearning to explore. Nana isn’t afraid of many things, simply because she’s never been exposed to anything outside. However, she’s somewhat wary of doctors and medical staff understandably.

Abilities
Character's Canon Abilities:
Mutant or simply a new step in human evolution, all Diclonii have vectors: a bunch of extra telekinetic arms which are able to be employed as horribly effective killing weapons and serve the purpose to infect other humans and alter their DNA to carry the Diclonius virus so they will, in turn, produce more Diclonii. They are also able to sense the presence of their own kind.
In Nana’s case, she has 4 vectors which have a maximum reach of 5 meters from her person. With these invisible ‘hands’ Nana is able to lift and move objects within a 5 meter radius of her. She is also able to, with the right amount of concentration, cut through objects as thick as a metal car. It is also possible to pass through objects with her vectors, thus if she wanted to, she could literally reach inside your head.
However, due to her loss of her original limbs, Nana uses her vectors to control her prosthetic limbs which, if she loses concentration, have a tendency to pop off from time to time. Nana also has an inconceivable tolerance for pain which comes from being subject to gruesome tests and used as a guinea pig in a laboratory ever since her birth.
Of course, Nana absolutely hates using her vectors to harm people so the residents of Siren’s Pull should be quite safe and in no danger at all.
Weapons: None.
History/Personality/Plans/etc.
Character History:
Here!
Point in Canon: Right after her fight with Lucy, which rendered her limbless. Prior to being taken to Siren’s Pull Nana was unconscious and in a private hospital, having been fitted for special prosthetic limbs and being treated for her terrible wounds, thus she will arrive in Siren’s Pull with her prosthetics, bandaged stumps and wearing a hospital gown.
Character Personality:
Looking at Nana, one would simply see a polite, innocent young girl. What they wouldn’t know from looking at her is that she could quite easily kill you without even batting an eye. Of course, that’s just in theory; Nana is quite capable physically of killing a human in an instant but mentally and emotionally it goes against everything she stands for. With natural pink hair, pink eyes and two little horns on her head it’s not hard to come to the conclusion that Nana isn’t human. She is in fact a Diclonius, a species related to humans, which could even be considered an evolution advancement of the human race, if not a mutation. Nana belongs to a subgroup of Diclonius called a Silpelit rendering her infertile and causing her to age twice as fast, thus while she has the appearance of a 12-14 year old, Nana in reality is no older than 6 or 7.
Diclonius also possess vectors – telekinetic extra limbs which are able to do a number of things, including but not limited to acting as a weapon and spreading the Diclonius virus. None of this would be too different from a normal human however, physiologically speaking, and the growth of Diclonius children mentally and physically is relatively the same as humans. However, early on in childhood development, a Diclonius child’s personality twists from seemingly innocent to stark raving mad with a thirst for murder. They will kill any human they wish – even their own parents because of it. It is because of this fact that Nana was taken as an infant and being one of the lucky ones (or rather, unlucky) instead of being euthanized she was taken as a test subject to a research lab and forced to undergo horrendous experiments. Her whole life, Nana has never seen more than the inside holding of her cell, which she has spent the majority of her time chained to a wall naked. This would drive anyone crazy, regardless of whether or not they were to become insane in the first place.
One thing sets Nana apart from the rest of her species however. While being forced to endure such inhumane experiments Nana managed to keep her sanity by latching onto the one human influence in her bleak existence who seemed to act courteous to her, at least in Nana’s eyes. This doctor, Dr. Kurama, who overlooked all the experiments was turned into a father figure for herself and as such, Nana calls him Papa. Nana will do absolutely anything for Papa. The only way she managed to keep her sanity was to believe that she was being of use to this man and that if she were a good girl, he would love her and be proud of her. He is, quite literally, her entire reason for having the will to continue to survive such agony. Viewing the experiments as duty to Papa made her feel wanted and useful, saving her from falling into insanity.
That said, Nana is a civil little girl, and although she is polite she still is cautiously aware of those around her. Despite her age Nana believes in a profound concept that both humans and Diclonius are born with the capacity of being capable of cruelty and evil as well as good, even though she’s been shown very little kindness, if any at all throughout her life. Past all her skittishness Nana is a little girl who is completely ignorant of the world outside her cell. She cannot read or write, nor does she know what anything outside her cell is. New people and things easily distract her or scare her but on the flipside it’s not hard to make her shine with happiness over the simplest of things, especially if they involve her experiencing even the slightest bits of freedom. As long as she can be of use, she’s happy, despite how sad that may seem.
Even though her species is usually sadistic, Nana absolutely hates violence toward others. She would never, ever kill someone, even when it boils down to self defense. When she was fighting Lucy, another Diclonius she was ordered to catch by Papa, she had many opportunities in which she could have outright killed Lucy but didn’t. In fact it was by protecting another girl’s life that got in the way of their fight, Nana lost all her limbs. In Nana’s mind, she’s suffered so much that she believes it’s not fair that others should endure any sort of pain and truly, would never hurt anyone willingly.
As innocent as she is though, if pushed to her limit Nana can snap. This is when she becomes completely cold and merciless, although she still has enough control of herself to an extent to resist killing people. That resistance could be broken however, and it takes a lot to snap Nana out of this mindset. In fact, it took a bullet to the head to snap her out of it and return her to her normal self. Nana rarely falls into such a mindset however.
Character Plans:
Nana will arrive in Siren’s Pull in not the greatest shape. She’ll arrive in a little hospital gown, bloody bandages covering the nubs which used to be limbs and with her prosthetics on the ground beside her. She’ll most likely have to go to a hospital to get the bandages changed and probably some pain killers. After that, she’ll probably have to have someone look out for her a little bit. Once she settles herself a bit, she’ll want to explore and once she learns what a school is, she’ll want to go, really, really bad to learn how to read and write. Due to her innocence and abilities, she’d probably get herself into trouble. Who knows, maybe she’ll catch the eye of one of the companies in Siren’s Pull? Either way, she’ll have lots to do.
